POMaGRANITES?

I had never even tasted a pomagranite, but i must say, I am OVER THE MOON when i look at the luscious colors it has to offer!. All the shades of pinks and reds, to a rich blood red in the center to a soft delicate pink on the exterior of this curious fruit! I purchased a couple at work, not sure why...to eat, or to paint.??
being new to the POM world, i was curious as to how to cut it, like, a tomatoe, if you cut it wrong, you have a real mess on your hands, and it may be messy to look at as well.

The only Poms i have seen, were in pictures of paintings done by the masters...the light hitting the seeds as they are sprawled across a dish of light, the contrast of deep tissue red, and the only highlighting is atop of those delicate seeds. Were they always as rich to eat, as to paint? Have they always been known to be healthy, or has science just made us aware? How could something with such posture, not be magnificent for the soul! How could it NOT be almost the core of visual surprise and delight...where does this magnificent fruit come from?

I somehow locked myself out of my blog...but figured my way back in! How confusing is that~
I am also trying to figure out how to WATERMARK my images and make them non-printable! So if there are any techies out there that no how to do this, Im up for a lesson!

I am saying how pleased i am with the "Sepia Class" we did...I just wish everybody was there to enjoy the class.
Jackie chose to take a COLOR painting and transform it into detail tones grading the values! KUDOS JACKI! you did a great job!
I think we will revisit this project, and just hope the rest of the class shows up to jump on board!

After we did it in color last week, I saw that the students were afraid to go as dark as they needed to in the foreground. This is what makes this type of painting, it make you feel you are IN the painting, looking through the branches. A lot of people missed class last week, (9/13/11)

So we will do it again. Also, i want students to start looking at old family photo's. Its time to do the SEPIA SERIES. Its a great way to learn values, or the VALUE of a VALUE study!

The weather was perfect! Of course the company was as well! Cori on one side and my new friend Sheryl on the other! Last but not least, CHelsea was my helper for the day... The "Mill Creek Park" Art in the Park has allways been a nice show, laid back with nice people running it! Some of the paintings i put in, are....Up above, i still dont know how to post where i want to! I will add more in the next post! ~~ But, after class tonight, I am heading up to Mi Te Jo campground for the rest of the week! Ill be listening to the loons, and painting and eating HEALTHY! I WILL DO THIS! I will also take brisk walks, and try to accept that my cell phone has NO service up there! Uysually i do, but i have no contract and i am using virgin mobile...so maybe thats a good thing!
Well, I am going to do as many shows this fall as i can get in to, so let me know folks, if there are any out there!

Such a buzy summer!!! (8/11)

Getting ready for a show in South Portland's "Art in the Park".
Had a great show in Newburyport this year. Ive been inspired by the beautiful LOTUS plant in my water garden! What an amazing plant,it has brought beauty all summer long with the most wonderful flower!

The water lilies have been great also, but its exciting to have this new element for the frogs, to hang out on the huge lotus leaves, and the fish have a great place to hide from the herring!

On top of this weather being so awesome,I have an exciting new addition to garden!!!
This wonderful LOTUS,is going to my painting variety. I have always admired this sturdy, yet delicate presence it brings to any water garden.
After stumbling on them at
ROLLING GREEN NURSERY I almost lost my breath!...
Plus its been years since i have been to that Nursery, and is is one of the areas hidden secrets for sure! rolling green nursery Had the plants that i had been searching for and some that i had given up on. I am going to go there and paint for a day. I cant wait!!!
Its starting off to be a buzy summer, working at Namco, Gardening for a friend,and my own gardens,getting ready for my classes, as well as all the other things that come along with bein' a mom, etc!

You "gotta" love spring!!!

When you step outside, first thing in the morning, the world has started with out you! You hear the birds working diligently on their nests, peepers sending out their signals, as well watching things turn green, right in front of your very eyes! The smell of spring is something to behold. The damp dirt, the faint smells of blossoms getting ready to open, and if you are lucky, the smell of grass, freshly cut.
WHY? Why would anybody want to live anywhere else, and miss the change of seasons. Just when we get bored with the old season, another starts creeping in, and by the time we realize it, we also realize, its time to jump, and make what ever changes it calls for.
The earth, waiting to be turned, the weeds, the first to appear, waiting to be yanked....leaves from the previous fall, hiding in the corners...Doing what they can to protect the earth from the snow, that has finally melted.

The hunt,...before you know it, the weather is just right, for a the Lady Slippers to begin there journey. It takes hundreds of years for a lady slipper to become the beautiful, yet quirky, isolated flower, that it is. The lady, she may be alone in the woods, where you left her, last year...Or she may be with a group of "Other" ladies...waiting to show their stuff. But in lady slipper world, it does take such a long time to reach maturity, and the elegance, that is respected by so many.
PLEASE~ leave the ladies alone, they are not lonely, they just "are"! And the chances are good, if you try to take one for your garden, you will disturb so many years of circumstance, and hard work. That may never be appreciated again, if it is removed for selfish reasons. The roots of the ladies, run along way, just under the surface or the of carpet of decayed leaves. These roots, will support many other ladies along the way. If one is disturbed, its the end of an era!

Tis the end of the day! Had a nice class. Just me and Linda B..Working on watercolor canvas this week. Most students seemed to enjoy! YAY!

wow, March 20, 2011...where is the time

Im happy it is spring, its been a long winter. Inside and out. My heart has been stuck in a black hole, but i feel it is opening up again. Spring is so wonderful...playing in the yucky, stinky pond, and under all the smelly dead stuff, i gentley(sp?) started pulling the dead stuff off a sunken lilie, i see a bud beginning already! Just 2 days ago everything was frozen solid...so how did that happen?
Then, looking over the zebra grass and the cat o' nine tales, i see new growth there! YIPPEE! never mind the corkscrew grass that never skipped a beat! Unfortunatly, my fish and frogs didnt all fare so well. Maybe we will pay better attention next year, when we are closing it up for the season.
But last summer, though the weather was grand, we had so so many trials and tribulations. Its a miracle we came through to the other side. Hopefully, we got all the sad,bad and scary stuff out of the way.
I miss my little store, Art to Art is still "intact" but not so commercial. I am still giving classes, and have some supplies, but not sure what i am doing with the supply end of things!
I have room for new students, and looking to do a day class this spring and summer...Anytakers?

Where has the time gone?? Gettin' ready for shows...

I have signed up for a couple of shows this Holiday season. I have the wonderful GREENLAND PIE FESTIVAL,put on by the www.Greenlandwomensclub.org
It is Nov. 21,2010 and it starts at 10:00 a.m. The "pie" Festival is exactly that, the women, aside from putting this high end fine arts and crafts event, stay up all night and make a crazy variety of pies for people to purchase for the up-coming Holidays. It has become quite a tradition in the seacoast area, and i am excited to be part if it once again!
Then, I am joining in at the Dondero School event on Dec 4, 2010. 9a.m.-2p.m. They have moved this event from and after school afternoon, to a Saturday. THis gives the shoppers more time, and probably makes it a little easier for the vendors!
I will have my original watercolors, notecards of my works, and i may bring my purses made of recycled neck ties
So, on that note, I am trying to do a lot of "smaller" more affordable pieces of work.

Its that sweatshirt time of year, the smell of smoke in a far off woodstove, the geese overhead, laying out their flight plan...the dogs snuggle really tight...and we all know whats ahead!
Hopefully something productive, that would be nice! I feel like its been forever since i have been productive...I feel like i have been a waste of air! Lets get the show on the road and do something fun!

I went out to the studio today, only to find a leak...But i did have a "twinge" of wanting to paint. I have takin' some nice photos lately, and i think my block may be coming to an end! I hope so, i miss the frenzy...Well, I hope all is well out there, Enjoy the "interesting skies" we have been having! Starting a new "Young adult" class on Mondays after school, 4:15-5:45 ish...Im looking forward to it!

The cooler weather alows me to wear bigger baggier cloths, i love that! I dont like chilly toes in the a.m. so i have to get some fuzzy socks!
I HAVE A PAINTERS BLOCK...its driving me crazy...i want to lock in to a painting and go!
I think i may take out the oils and let her rip...
I am sorry i havent been posting, but the drama in life sometimes makes things like posting on blogs such an effort. But i have to get back into my art world. I went to the Isabella gardner stewart?sp?? museum in Boston the other day...it was an inspiration to be eclectic, but it didnt hit my art button. So i think i will go to the Currier in Manchester. Maybe that will speak to me.
I still have some art supplies left from the store..Some w.c paints, prisma colorpencils, markers.tombows , some oils, just stuff. I have to get it together to either use it, or ebay it! THough ebay is kind of pricey, especially if the stuff doesnt sell! Anyway, going for a walk, then a meeting, then hopefully i will be inspired to make magic!!!

I did take a few days to go to NY with my youngest, and it was alot of fun. Perfect weather, and perfect company! I want to go back ASAP~! Do you know about the buses that run out of Boston~New York...I only paid 36.00 round trip, and that was high! There are many buses running hourly, and the average is 15.00 an hour. I will pay the extra 5 Bucks next time to reserve a seat! But other then that,,,it was great, can almost do it in a day!

Hi good folks, I am 97 % out of the Newmarket location...Just waiting for some strong men and a trailer, and im out of there. Sad yes, but i realllly missed my home studio. I am so happy to be back there, and home where I can be available for my parents if they need me, work on the house...take care of my dogs...I just was never meant to be a 9-5 er! So i hope my people will follow me there, I will have w/c classes there and if my distributer lets me, i will do some retail. I am going to start up another kids class, i miss the innocence of youth! The approach they have to art, and to see things with clear eyes!

I am going in to the store today, Sunday July 18, from 10-1:00..Prismacolor and tombow Markers are 1.00 each. Also, the large tubes of WINTON OIL paints, 1/2 off...Liquitex Acrylics,1/2 off...I still have WN and COTMAN watercolors tubes, they are 40% off, I have canson MiTients pastel paper, Still have large canvas's 1/2off...lots of little stuff, paint sets, charcoal pads,stuff on the "spinny rack"...I am also hoping people will want some of the display racks. The ones that the paint are in..
Oh yes, I still have some INKS, Higgins, WN and F&W..
Paint mediums, a very few brushes, some fair trade stuff, a few "Ellie Pooh" items...
ANd after all is said and done, I hope people will remember that i will be in Stratham at my home studio, 15 Jackrabbit Lane. I may still sell watercolor supplies, we will see how much room i have when i get situated. If you want to call and make sure I am still in the store,(to stop in and look around) you can call 603-2923668..I am not holding regular hours due to the heat. The only drawback to my little spot is there are no windows that open! UGH..Though, when they finish the new floor-plan, it will make somebody a great little store front. Its very hard for me to let it go. I am very attached to that little brick building...But instead of paying rent, I would like to contribute to the household...and teaching and working out of my home makes that happen. I hope any body with gift certificates have cashed them all in! I know most have, but there may be some straggelers!

Thank you to everybody and there kind words. Yes I am sad, but just want to get it over with at this point. I cant believe how much stuff i have put in such a small space! UGH! Today, Sunday, I will go in for a couple hours and pack up some more things, I'd say from 9 til 12 ish. Call before you come, just to be sure I am there. Here are some pictures of things left. LIQUITEX PAINTS(tubes) many colors, water colors, oils, markers, Prisma color, TOmbow, Itoya, (markers are going 2 for the price of 1)...Large Charcoal pads, marker pads,watercolor pads, Montval blocks, some decent brushes,Kids stuff, Ellie pooh, Fair trade stuff,too much to mention, Ill post some pics, that may help!

Yes, it makes me sad, but I have been struggeling with it for awhile. I belong in the studio painting, and teaching, not trying to keep books, and prices and all that stuff. Plus, my life has gotten very busy with family and all, and i just had to prioratize.
I will be selling stuff off, (unless somebody wants to buy the biz)...So if you need art supplies, ill start at 25%. Im hoping to get in there even today(wed)..but being hot, it may be a problem. Im thinking by Saturday, i will do a "Yardsale" on the side walk. But i cant GIVE the stuff away, but there are things I dont want to
store..I am an artist first, so there are things ill be using for my classes etc,
My classes will be based out of my studio in Stratham, as they have been for years.
So dont fret students!

I just returned from Florida, and getting ready to get back into the swing of things.
I recieved an email from LACA, and they are asking for artists to come out and paint on Mothers Day, during the artwalk in Newmarket. So, if anybody reads this that would like to paint on Mothers day, send an email to arttoart@comcast.net. or go to www.Lampreyarts.org
Also, store hours? Its very hard to figure out the hours i should be open. I sit there for days and not 1 person comes in, then a day comes by and 5 people come in. I m the lone sitter, I cant afford to hire people, and i have a situation at home that needs my attention. So,,,any suggestions?
People say how wonderful it is to have me there, and how lucky they are to find me, then they go home and order on line. Tech Products suffered the same fate. I know, I worked there.
I do want people to know, I DO NOT mark up my products. I try to buy on special, and then discount at purchase. Brushes I can usually get a good discounts on,,,not paper or paint. I am going to try to deversafy my w.c. paint selection, so if anybudy has a favorite brand, let me know and I can see what it goes for,. I do carry GAMBLIN OIL PAINTS . I knock off 20% of suggested retail. I order a few more colors every time I order.
I do special orders on most anything. I like to post artist shows, I have a well read WINDOW. So if you have a card of an ongoing or upcomming show, send it my way!
Well, the classes that I offer at the times are, MONDAY 10:30-12:30 and Tues eve 6:30-8:30

Sunday, the 11th of April, there is a big road race in down town Newmarket. Also, it looks like i may be going to Florida around the 17th...I will be out of the store for about a week. due to the wetttt rainy windy days, i have had an accumulation of water in the walls, and it is shorting out my electricity. Today i was there cleaning up after the leaks and the mess...and the wall SPARKED a big one. Burned a whole in the outlet...Unfortunately, the breaker runs half of the store, and i couldnt run it even if i tried...We are waiting on a call from an electrician, and then we can make a plan. But, being as small as the store is, i have had to pull everything away from the wall, so the elec. can get to the problem...I feel really sad, cause business was turning the corner, and April 1 is my 1 year anniversary, i wanted to plan something fun. I will have some damaged things to sell 1/2 price..but we will wait and see what happens and when. I hate to close the store like that in the middle of the day, but as you know, sometimes life throws things at you, and you gotta do what you gotta do. Rhode Island wasnt on the schedule, but its behind me now. Hopefully things will settle down for awhile and i can get back into the groove. Its nice to have the support of friends, old and new, no matter what is going on! So, thanks again for all your patience, and prayers! Just wish for warmer weather so we can all heal!

Im sorry Newmarket had such a bad time with the power outage...I feel bad for the restaurants that lost all their food, so if you think of it, stop into an establishment, even Marelli's...and get a lil' somethin' to help regain their losses.

I had a leak the day before the outage, and thank God i noticed it while i was in the store, it was running all down the wall...It was a bit of a mess...then having the store closed for 3 days in a row...It was a nice mini vacation! I learned i can do with out power, but the loss of cable,,,thats the killer! I am a TV addict...My PC was in the repair shop for a whole week, that was the start of my pain, but then ...to lose the news...UGH! I did laundry,(when the power came back with no cable)...and cleaned and listened to books on tape! I used to do that for hours...it was like having an old friend back! SCARPETTA....for those of you that read Patricia Cornwell....

Well, back to the store...Tuesday Night class is FULL, but Monday 10:30 -12;30...we have a couple seats... Florida was relaxing,the weather was an "8". It was good to get away , so i could come back and re-focus on the store!

I want people to know that i spend ALLOT of time with my customers, because i want to understand what they need. I do NOT want to up sell any product, and i will not sell something unless you need it. I believe that new students have a large expense, getting in to a new medium, and i do my best to meet a middle ground, so you have quality materials, and you can ad to your pallet as you learn more about paints, brands etc.
I DO NOT mark my products up. As a matter of fact, I sometimes have to pay more at wholesale, than some customers can get at retail. It really stinks, because if the BIG BRANDS want me to work with new comers to the art world, they should make it a little more compatable. I cant compete with the catalogues and the warehouses, no matter what i do, and its going to keep forcing the educated art store, to close down.
On that note, i will continue to search for specials when i order, and do the best i can to keep my prices down. And if you need something, and i dont have it, let me know, Ill do my best to get it in. Thanks for reading

WOW, sorry i havent been posting, but i got a sewing machine for Christmas, and i am having a blast! I have always wanted to learn how to "master" the sewing machine beast, and...by george! Ive got it!~
Just in time, cause i have NO room on my walls, so i have to slow down on the painting...and thats killing me. This keeps me buzy, keeps my mind buzy, and i just sew from open to close!
I have learned some of the hazards though...especially sewing in the winter, when life is so dry anyway...i have thread hanging off of me, my machine, my dog...every where i go, static city! So i have resorted to stickin' dryer sheets in my pocket, and when things start to stick, i am armed...and everything suddenly smells like that cute little Teddy Bear on the commercial...actually, i am beginning to FEEL like that TEDDY BEAR, and it isnt pretty. Something about allll those sweets people were kind enough to give me over the Holidays! THE RUM BALLS started it all, it was like i hadnt eating for months, then my lovely little daughter Chelsea decided to do some wonderful baking this year! WOW! 7 layer cookies, reese's peanut butter thingy's, cookies, an di had to make lasagna, just had to! Its like, I wanted people to know, I CAN work that mechanical thing in the kitchen,,,,no not the 10 trash compacter, but that other thing,,,4 burners, o yeah, stove! I used to work one on a regular basis...and then, it happened, I WOKE UP!
K, E nough of the wise cracks, what was i going to blog about anyway.......um,,,, thinking.....
THE STORE! That right, THANK YOU NEWMARKET NH and friends. I had an encouraging Christmas! Not gang-buster, but pretty much what i expected...It was especialy nice that a lot of locals on the "strip" came out to support me, and i tried to do the same. Its really tough in Newmarket, because the construction from past years has really stuck with some folks..But they are starting to come around. And it is appreciated! Another boost on the strip is
ORGANIC BONITA,, www.organicbonita.com (I think thats the web sight!) Its an ALL ORGANIC hair salon...Yes, perms, colors, facials, you name it! Miss Tammy does it all! Check it out!
She is located right next to MAMA LENA"S who is just a few steps away from Newmarkets fun little coffee shop and book store! CRACKSKULLS! A unique landmark in this town, Well, now I have to mention the Lamprey River Tavern, great place for a beer after a long day, Marelli's FRUIT AND REAL ESTATE, for all your convenience store needs! Then, Last but not least..THE BIG BEAN!! YUMMY! And I mean yummy! Very crunchy, casual and comfortable! Best Breakfast in town!

OK, back to the store, I still have some items on sale, if i get good deals from my "Company's, then i do pass them on to you guys...I DO NOT MARK THINGS UP! NEVER! So if you think i am over priced, its because i dont get the same deals as the BIG guys do, I dont have wharehouse space..so i more or less get punished! Yet, I do spend more time with my customers then...well, you know, those other stores! Or try asking a catalogue what pigments you need, or what brushes work with what! Back to what i was posting for! I WILL be out of town from JAN 20/10 to JAN 26/10... Going to Florida to see my folks. The store will be open as much as possible, but i would advise you to call first if you are making a special trip!.

Art to art patrons! I got my BIG order in, and i sure hope you can come in and check it out! I got some nice SCEPTRE (sp) brushes and will be offering them at half price! They are a little pricey to begin with, but they are a nice brush, especially for watercolorists! So 1/2 off is quite a deal!

These are ATC~ artist trading cards, original works done by me. These card are depictions of the coastal area around here, mostly of the Isles of Shoals. These miniature works are 2"1/2 inches by 3" 1/2 inches. ATC are really NOT to be sold. But traded and collected by artist and art lovers. Here are 9 of a group i did. What i am hoping to do, at the store,if we have any purchases in the store over $100.00, then the purchaser gets to pick one out!

I will also be doing a drawing for a piece of artwork. This can be for anybody that comes in the store, between now adn Dec 31, 2009. They can enter the name and email , and We will draw from the names on December 31, 09

OK, So the Holidays are a good thing! Its a fun time of year, cause you can use glitter just about anywhere! And the beautiful lights... The lights slowly appear as the sun settles down, linig the shapes of the houses, under their new fresh coat of snow. Some are simple,and conservative, and then some houses look like they are ready to march down the road. I dont get how some people decorate so perfectly, everything is in sync, no bulbs out, colors all make sence...and then you see the house thats probably draining the electric company...with bits and pieces of light strands from Christmas pasts...some blinking, winking, and some are just thinking...to blink or to flit? What will it be?

Then, those air blowing things, how funny are those if they are not being payed attention to.! When the day begins, the evidence appears... They all look like they were at a crazy party the night before...and have very little "mo-jo" left!

Sometimes, when they deflate, they just drop where ever they feel like it, and it can be pretty comicle, (if you have a deranged sence of humour like my self!) Well, any way, that is my observation so far, and now its time to talk about the store.

I recently got an ELLIEPOOH shipment in, and people have already started to get dibs on it! We have some cute heart shaped boxes, with paper in them, all made of Elliepooh! Great for any age! I still have a lot of FAIR TRADE earings, purses, etc...Really FUN stuff! And last but not least, I have a huge order comeing in from My art supplier. Different kits for kids, drawing, painting, making things, as well as some beginner sets, for those who need a fresh start! That order should be in middle of next week, i hope!

Sorry not to update more, i keep getting my PW mixed up along with everything else in life!
Just a quick funny...You know your distracted when,,,,you find a roll of toilet paper in your FREEZER! At that point, i surrended...I am rolling with the punches, its the best i can do!

On the good note , I am getting a FAIR TRADE order in today, thats "fun stuff" gifty items...
Im still waiting for some special orders to be picked up,. NEW POLICY...special orders, 50 % down...I pay upfront for everything, and if i have to sit on product, that slows the works.
THings are slow, and its difficult. I know people in general want the store to work, but the way things are going, I dont know how long i can hang on...Dont get me wrong, I love it, i love the people , and i appreciate the people that are doing there best to come to me first when they need something. I am trying to keep product in that people need...
I guess i was hoping for a little more action over Heritage weekend. Its hard when you are one of the only, NON PIZZA stores in town. Not much of a pull...
Anyway, enough whining...I will post some new paintings, at least i feel productive,,,

I know i have sent a lot of people to this blog about class info, wich is in there some where!

I have been so buzy with family matters, new Gallery, started up classes etc. I also had no computer for a bit, it was being repaired! Dont you just hate that?

Well, The MONDAY 10:30~12:30 class is underway, but we only have a few students commited. So feel free to jump in at any time. We can "pro-rate" the cost.

As I said, they are on going and i work towards the groups needs, so anyone can pretty much jump in at any time.

I do like warning though, at least a day...I like to make sure that every one feels like they belong, and coming into a group new can be intimidating.

There were several teenagers interested, and i am not sure what happened to them, if you are eading this, contact me, we'll get you in there!

Tuesday eve also has room...Com'on, dont be shy!

NEWMARKET — Surrounded by members of the town's government and business community, Pat Ryan-Perkins cut the ceremonial ribbon June 18, on her art supply store that she hopes will become a staple of a thriving downtown.
Art to Art, which opened its doors in April, has become the destination for those in need of watercolors, oil paints, acrylics, pencils, brushes, sketch books, journals and original art.

Art to Art has access to framing for those looking to accent artwork, as well as a gift section through Fair Trade, which offers uniquely crafted items. Patrons can special order any item they need, but can't find within the store.
Art classes are also offered by Ryan-Perkins, who specializing in watercolors, for those novices or beginners looking to enhance or discover a new creative outlet.
Ryan-Perkins said she is currently in the process of looking for a second space in Newmarket where she could hold her classes.
Ryan-Perkins said her goal for the store was to create a place where local area artists and art enthusiasts could network.
"There is a strong desire for culture and the arts in town," she said, "and the response so far has been really positive and encouraging."
The ribbon-cutting ceremony last Thursday is the latest in a series of events designed to bring awareness to the town's burgeoning business district.
Town Council Chairman Michael LaBranche, was on hand for the ribbon cutting. He said similar events will be held at Rocky's Famous Burgers, Between The Bread, and E & T Barber Salon in July.
"There's a lot of diverse stuff going on in town," said LaBranche, "and it's good to see all of the different ventures opening up."
LaBranche said the increased business activity has helped to revitalize the downtown district by drawing a large number of visitors to the area.
"It's all helping the town to get back to where it was, but in a different format," he said.
Local business owner Mike Hoffman, who was also on hand for the ceremony, said Art to Art is a great addition to the town and another example of the downtown redevelopment providing a spark to the local economy.
"It's great to see Newmarket coming alive," he said.

Suggested supply list.
To start with, decent paper is most important! Montval, made by Canson is a good student grade, as well as professional.
I will give students an INITIAL discount of 20% This means when you get the first bulk of supplies, min. $40.00 total purchase.
I am doing this to compete with the on-line suppliers, because I think its important for people to know what they are buying, and to be able to touch it, look at it, etc. It is very expensive to start painting, so I am doing my best to make it affordable, and if you stay with painting, as you replenish supplies, you can go with the better pigments, etc.

Paints, PAN or TUBE
**Perm Alizarin Crimson *Lemon Yellow
**Ultramarine Blue *Cerulean Blue
**Perm. Sap Green *Hookers Green
**Cad Red Scarlet Lake
**Cad yellow Perm Magenta
**Yellow Ochre Cad Orange

The prices on some paints varies by series.** means most imp, *means sencondary, etc
Student grade watercolors sometimes have 2 series.
Professional paints have up to series 5 or 6. #6 Reason being, some pigments are very expensive and hard to get.
We will go over those kinds of things over time.
BRUSHES etc.
Brushes also vary in price, but there are many affordable sets, made out of synthetic materials. I have several of these personally, because my brush care is not that great!
Flat, a 1” to 2” flat is good to have for “washes”, skies, oceans, etc!
Then a large round is good, 16 round or larger.
A smaller round, any where from 12 round to 8 round.
Try to get brushes specific for watercolor. I will have a lot of items in the store, and will go over the different types.
If you have stuff at home, you are welcome to bring that in to the first class, before purchasing anything, and we will see what you can use.
I am definitely NOT trying to “up sell” products for the store, and only want you to start with what you need and you will know soon enough weather or not you will be painting for a long time!
PAPERS
There are way too many types of paper, so I will be specific here.
The usual paper that pro. Artist use, it the D'Arches, 140 pound cold press. This is sold by the sheet (22 x 30) for app. $ 8.00 a sheet.
You can get 4 paintings out of one sheet, that will matt a frame at app. 16 X 20. Break that down its only $2.00 per painting.
Then there is **Canson's Montval Paper. This is great paper cost wise, and it will work for the student or professional artist.
The Montval Paper is also 22 X 30, and cost about $3.00 a sheet.
You can buy this paper in pads, as well as “blocks”.
You should have s sketch pad, not too large, a couple of pencils, 2b and 2h. Gum eraser, or kneaded eraser. Masking tape, or artist tape.
Plastic container for water. Paper towels.
You should also have a collection of photos, or pictures cut out of magazines, Calendars etc., that you may want to attempt!

Hello people, art lover, blog seekers...I am sorry i havent posted in a while, but my computer is giving me troubles, and i have to hold it just right to get it to charge...what a pain!

nEWMARKET IS still my place to be, and i am commited to playing a part in the art community. I am quite possible going to rent a place to have a teaching studio, in town.

I will be doing this with a few other people, and i think it will be an asset to the town.

Its the support i get from Newmarket that gives me the courage to do this, so you people are welcome to give me suggestions, on what kind of classes you would like to see.

as you can see, i have no skills with the layout, but here is a list of some of the fun things we carry. Water color pencil, water brushes, aqua board, clay board. I will be carrying Gamblin Oil paints and products, and I think Schminke pastels. I would really appreciate if people would let me know the color preferences, from the more commonly used ones, on down the line.
I have to order a few colors at a time, so the more popular ones is the place to start! Thanks for reading, Things are going well, thanks to all of you supportive artists out there!

HAPPY MOTHERS DAY Y'ALL!

If the weather stays nice, i will set up outside the store, and let people play with some of the materials I have. Also, I would like to get people to sign my guest book, and will be doing a few "drawings" for door prizes. A piece of original art, A paper star(wicked cool) and a lotus candle holder!

I will probably even paint out-side today!...weather permitting, all weekend!

One month in business, and i am feeling confident that i have a purpose here!

I also have some pretty cool stuff for gifts, being one of the only shops in town, I am trying to keep other interesting things, for people who need a quick unique gift item.

Of course i will only have fun stuff in house, and i just got in some really cool paper stars, paper lanterns, I have also been working on some "mothers day minis" and so on and so forth!

Today we are getting in a shipment of lino cutters, packaged pencil sets, coloring books, more water color and Artisan paint colors...

Aqua board, and next weeks shipment will be loaded with a princeton brush promo that i will tell you about later.

So, hopefully you all will find that i am trying to keep the store "fresh", "fun" and full of life! Come in and check us out! If i am not there, My daughter Chelsea is doing a great job learning the biz...and getting to know the artists other than me! THanks for your ideas, support, and words of encouragment. Your ideas and comments are helping alot!

I am finding myself painting once again, its been almost a year since i have found myself locked into "the mode" I am thrilled to say, all i want to do is paint! Stop in anytime and i will probably have a few projects around, from sketch to watercolor pencils, or whatever is in reach!
I am also open on Sundays, because of the awesome "blues brunch" at the Tavern next door!
They offer great affordable breakfasts on Fri Sat and Sundays! worth a look!!!

I am getting new materials in weekly, but i want to hear peoples preferences!

I would like suggestions in pastels, professional oils, papers....and stuff!

I am having fun ordering the gifty stuff, and that seams to be going well! Especially the ELLI POOH journals! Thanks again Newmarket for your support!

I also want to hear from teachers, suggestions for there class lists, etc.

As some of you know, I worked at Tech product for a while, and i learned that talking to the customers, and understanding what and why , made it easier in getting the products that were need.

Newmarket Heritage Festival 08

What a wonderful event.!!! Newmarket NH works hard to

keep a "genuine" community spirit alive.

I am honored to be apart of such a lively event!

It was a full weekend of music, food, and family fun.

As an observer from a neighboring town, we all should take a lesson from Newmarket, and see what can be done to embrace the community! Even with the construction going on, and all the other detors along the way, the organizers still managed to make this festival the best one on my show list! And i have been to a few!

`Ti's the season, making note cards is always a challenge, I'm never sure what is going to be requested, so of course i try to get all the images on at least a couple!

My note cards are all hand assembled by me, i am doing my best to not mass produce anything with my images on them. I am trying to keep it "personnel".

A wonderful HOT sunny day, afloat the pond,

a dragonfly

or two

blues of skies, skies of blue

the pallete sets its self up, in wait.

Its calling me to grab the memory

before it fades into another day

hearing the water fall from the paddles

drip onto a sphere that echoes through out the pond

reflections, vibrations, and the tone of the sun,,,

its pointing us the direction, just read what is there,

the dance, the sound, scents of life
